Sony has announced new Windows 8 based convertible tablet and laptop on a live streamed Australian Press Conference at the IFA Conference in Berlin. The tablet and laptop will first hit Australia in the month of October after the launch Windows 8 operating system officially.
The new 1.3Kg Sony VAIO Duo 11 powered by Intel Ivy Bridge i7, i5 and i3 processor has 11.6 inch OptiContrast FullHD capacitive screen having 1920×1080 pixels of resolution with a backlit keyboard. It is pre-loaded with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 chip too for better gaming experience with 4GB or 8GB DDR3 and 128MB or 256MB of SSD. It has 2MP camera both at the back and front with NFC for fast sharing of files and pairing of devices. Other than this it has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n for wireless connectivity, Bluetooth v4.0 and microUSB v3.0 for device to device connectivity and microSD card slot for external memory support.
The other device announced is a 20 inch Windows 8 based all in one PC with multi touch panel. The Sony VAIO Tap 20 has been powered by Intel i7, i5 and i3 processor and an Intel HD Graphics 4000. It also has Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 for better performance. It has a memory configuration of 4GB or 8GB DDR3 and 750GB or 1TB of HDD. The PC weighs 5.2 Kg with battery also has other features like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB v3.0, microSD card slot, speakers with S-Force Front Surround 3D etc.
Soon after the launch of the tablet and PC Sony will also launch a 84 inch LCD with four times more the resolution of high definition by the end of this year. This LCD will also debut in Australia followed by launch in other countries. Other than these two new cameras an Action cam for surfers, skaters etc and Nex-5R (with Wi-Fi and in-camera apps) has been announced which are expected to hit the market by November.
