Microsoft with the launch of the new smart-phone platform Windows Phone 8 is also going to launch new applications for the new operating system. Recently in Bangalore an 18 hour application marathon was organized by Microsoft where around 2567 attendees came up to show their participation. In this marathon 700 applications were developed out of which only 300 passed App Excellence Quality lab test with a very few making path to be the part of the new Windows Phone 8.
According to a market survey the main reason behind the lagging market of Microsoft’s Windows operating system is the presence of less number of applications. Windows has a 4% market share in the smart-phone market with only 100,000 Windows applications while Android and IOS have a market share of 68.1% and 16.9% with approximately 500,000 and 700,000 applications.
Also like Xbox for games now Microsoft is going to launch Xbox for music as well to stream best quality music on your Windows smart-phone i.e. the Xbox music is not restricted to Xbox 360 and is accessible to from any the devices using Windows Phone 8 platform. At the time of launch its library is expected to have 30 million tracks and the monthly subscription of this service is expected to be £8.99 and annual charge of £89. It is expected that the launch of new applications with Xbox music might prove to be a great helping hand in boosting up the market of Windows smart-phone globally.
